If you didn't get a chance to make it out to the show, you missed out big time! We had lots of samples of tasty food to eat from our caterers, an assortment of wines, sodas, champagne & peach bellinis and door prizes galore! It was hard to say because the place filled up so quickly, but a bunch of us estimate we had between 60-75 brides come to the show. Neato burrito!!!
Everything went very smoothly and we got tons of compliments from brides & vendors. Here's what some of the people said:
"Had such a great time today, thanks!!" - Amanda Acosta, Bride
"I attended a bridal show in Fort Worth this Sunday. It had a lot of interesting people, but small enough where a person could mingle and network with other vendors." - Martha A Williams, future cake vendor
"All the vendors were very informative and useful." - Jason Howard, Groom
"This was better than the Unveiled Bridal Event!" - Ashley Luxton, Bride
The only regret I have from the show is that some of our vendors couldn't make it because they got booked with last minute orders & rentals. Did you guys know that we had like 8 cake vendors bail out on us before Christi found one?!? It was a miracle that she did find the one cake vendor, and they came all the way out from McKinney!
Going through the process of calling people to see if they were interested and asking for return phone calls back made me find out which vendors I do and do not want to work with. Several people just flat out ignored me, and my calls were VERY FRIENDLY. A simple no would have sufficed from some people, but when a vendor goes out of their way to ignore me, I'm not gonna recommend them to my clients anymore.
We did have one misunderstanding between a vendor and a mother-in-law at the show, but things were fixed quickly before the bride got too upset. Needless to say what happened could have been prevented and I anticipate it will not happen again. (If you wanna know the dirt just ask, but I'm not posting it here).
On another positive note, I met some really sweet brides at the show and my best friend Vicki came out and found her wedding dress!!! How cool is that!?! My friend for more than 16 years comes to the first show I throw and finds her gown just like that! I'm really excited about planning her wedding. Vicki and Brendan are really big gamers and want to have the reception at Dave & Buster's with a Zelda/Video Game themed reception. I've got my work cut out for me, I've got almost no clue about Zelda. (I stopped playing video games when I got into band in high school and never went back).
Anyway, Christi and I have been propositioned by the Diamond Oaks Country Club to host our next bridal show. Christi wants to do it in March, which seems like an eternity away for me, personally. But then again I can see how it will work calendar wise. If we do it too soon we may not get as many brides to come and we'd be fighting the holidays. If we do it during January/February we'd be fighting against other bridal shows and winter weather.
What do you brides & grooms think? Is March good for another FREE Bridal Show, or should we do one sooner? Email me your thoughts at kpowellconsulting@yahoo.com.
Y'all have a good night now, I need to get some rest (finally!)
Happy Planning!
Love,
Krystal <3
